Ford's Transit Custom comes as a Plug-in Hybrid Electric van, or more specifically it is actually a "Range Extender", meaning its small engine never drives the wheels, when you have exceeded its ~30 mile range that engine works as a generator to keep the battery live. Ford are clearly aiming this at those unsure about full electrification, but keen to operate on electric mode in urban centres (and ULEV zones).
