Who installs the electric car chargepoint?

All of our EV charge points are installed by our in-house electricians. They are fully trained, qualified professionals with extensive experience in EV charging installations.

As well as carrying out the installation itself, our installers are knowledgeable about electric vehicles and home charging. They’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have and help ensure you’re confident using your new charger before they leave.

How long does it take?

Every installation is slightly different, but a standard installation usually takes around 3 to 4 hours.

Tip: No one enjoys a failed installation visit. To help avoid delays or unexpected issues, we ask several questions during the ordering process. The more information you can provide, the more likely your installation will go ahead without complications.

Need to change your appointment time?

We understand that plans can change.

If you need to reschedule your installation, simply use the cancellation or reschedule link in your confirmation email, and we’ll be happy to arrange a new appointment that works better for you.

What is the installation process on the day?

  1. On the day of your installation, your electrician will guide you through the process step by step.
    1. Your installer will confirm their arrival time in advance.
    2. Together, you’ll choose the best location for your charger, based on your power supply and where your vehicle is usually parked.
    3. The installer will mount the charger and run the cable, securing it neatly to the wall. The power will briefly be turned off while they install the necessary protection (RCBO) and connect the charger to your electrical supply.
    4. Once installed, they will carry out full safety checks and testing to ensure everything is working correctly.
    5. Your installer will then demonstrate how to use the charger and help you set up the accompanying mobile app.

  • Installation and testing of all necessary electrical connections and safety protections
  • Installation of an additional consumer unit, if required

Important conditions and limitations

To ensure safe and compliant installations, the following conditions apply:

  • The charger must be installed within your designated off-street parking area and positioned at a height where it cannot be struck by a vehicle.
  • The standard installation package does not include trenching cables underground or suspending cables above ground. If this is required, please contact us for a quotation in advance.
  • We cannot run cables under floorboards, through ducting, or through wall or ceiling voids without a draw cord, or where flooring has not already been lifted. We are also unable to reinstate flooring or other building materials after installation.

Additional safety considerations

For safety reasons, installers may be unable to proceed in certain situations.

  • Installers cannot work in crawl spaces, lofts, or on roofs if these areas are deemed unsafe.
  • Work may also be paused in extreme weather conditions, such as flooding or heavy rain. If this happens, the installer will complete as much of the installation as possible and arrange a return visit if necessary.
